|
|
Hello there,
I've had my beautiful van for over a year or so now, but just found this forum whilst trawling the net for breakers yards. What a great forum - so much information and so many experts!!
A combination of wear and tear (and total forgetfulness!) means i'm looking for a fuel cap, an Indicator stalk and a driver side wing mirror.
I've done some research but i'm finding it hard to locate anything for my particular model (LDV Freight Rover Sherpa 1984).
I wondered if any of you seasoned LDV'ers might be able to point me in the right direction please. Any help very gratefully received! cheers x |

Hi and welcome to the site
You may be able to source a universal-fit fuel cap from a motor factors.
I have a 1985 Metro as well as an Sherpa, and I think the indicator stalks are the same part. They're fitted to Austin/MG Metro from 84-on, Maestro and Montego, and Rover Metros up to 1995 (NOT Rover 100-series).
Which part of the mirror do you need? If it's just the glass and you can't source one, I believe you can buy automotive mirror glass that you cut out with scissors and stick over the top of the old one. A full mirror might be the same as the later LDVs or perhaps Land Rovers but someone else will perhaps be able to confirm.
The van looks great in your avatar, it'd be great to see some more pics 8) _________________ 1987 Freight Rover 200 (safely at home now) |

Evening folks,
Thanks very much for all the info - brilliant!
Disgusted - thanks, that's good data on the metro, i wonder, does that apply to other parts as well - good to know for any future clumsyness!
yes, i did get a multi-fit petrol cap from Halfords, but it doesn't quite have that good old 80s style about it, i'm just being a fussy bugger!
I've heard of this fake mirror stuff - will check it out. thanks for the tip.
airport travel - that looks like the fella. will check with haynes and see if it's the exact one. is that something you are selling then?
would you know if it's something i can fit myself oir do i need to take it to a garage? i have a bit of nounce but not any sort of expert!
haven't quite figured out how to put in pics, will try for next post. but you're not wrong...she's a real beaut!
thanks guys |

That one is the same as the Land Rover and Mini ones, the Metro-style must have come in a year or two later.
You will find that lots of British Leyland models share lots of parts- my Sherpa has the same indicator repeaters, instrument panel, washer jets, clock, pedal rubbers and stalks as a Metro, a Maestro engine, Rover SD1 gearbox, Morris J4 side and roof panels, Metro Turbo air filter housing, and probably dozens more that I haven't noticed! Yours will have Morris Marina inside door handles (mine has sliding doors) too, which stayed until 2005!
All manufacturers do it- Transit Mk4 door handles were Fiesta/Escort handles on their side _________________ 1987 Freight Rover 200 (safely at home now) |

All the parts in the section are for sale. I have quite a few spares for the older vans aswell as some newer van parts. _________________ 2.4 Convoy Minicoach
